If you've ever tried to create a form with the underscore character, you've doubtless found it's impossible to have the lines perfectly aligned at the right column edge, giving you an ugly, stepped effect. This is because, unlike with typewriters, proportional-spaced fonts are not of a fixed width. With different characters on each line, the likelihood of your underscores ending at the same position is remote. The solution, or one of them, is to use a right tab with an underscore as the leader character. Figure 12.5. Reply Form.
