The TemplateColumn class used in a DataGrid control lets you create a column with a customized control layout. This is extremely helpful in many circumstances. You use templates when you want to apply special formatting features not available through more direct channels such as CSS styles or the DataFormatString property of other column classes. You also use templates to combine several fields in a single layout to improve readability and user-friendliness. Templates are also the key to a meaningful graphical representation of data.
