Operation, Administration, and Management (OAM) components require security consideration for MPLS VPN service. Security applicability for OAM is the key topic for this chapter.

The Network Operations Center (NOC) is the most critical organization for both the service provider and the enterprise customer because it is in this organization that service level agreements and security are enforced. Within enterprise organizations that deploy MPLS and are responsible for internal service level agreement (SLA) and security enforcement, a similar NOC structure is usually established. In this chapter, we discuss the security of the management network?for example, access to the NOC in the context of a managed customer premises equipment (CPE) service.
