Request for Comments (RFCs) are Internet standards that you can find at http://rfc-editor.org by either entering the number or searching keywords.
Internet Drafts (IDs) are documenting work in progress. Some IDs will become RFCs in the future. You can find IDs at http://www.ietf.org/ID.html.
If you are looking for the work of a particular IETF working group, refer to the working group listing at http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/wg-dir.html. These pages contain links to all IDs and RFCs of a given working group.
The status of an ID can be checked at the ID data tracker at https://datatracker.ietf.org/public/pidtracker.cgi, as long as the ID is in the IETF. After the ID is submitted to the RFC Editor, the status can be found in the RFC Editor queue at http://rfc-editor.org/queue.html.
