baseline shift

The process of raising or lowering text characters to control positioning or alignment in a design. A positive baseline shift value raises the text, while a negative value lowers it, as calculated from the initial baseline positioning.



bicubic

An interpolation method that delivers the highest quality results when enlarging an image. Other interpolation methods are bilinear and Nearest Neighbor.



blending modes

Preset functions that compare a source image with new data such as a separate layer or paint tool. Blending modes compare and combine these two sets of pixel data to create unique imaging effects.



border

The outlined edge of a path or selection. Borders can be selected independently and can be filled and stroked.
