inheritance

The method by which an object retains a setting that was instantiated on its parent object. See also CSS, rule.

inline element

An element that occurs within the text content of another element, for example, an emphasized term inside a paragraph. See also block element.

internal subset

Elements, attributes, and other declarations that compose at least part of a DTD, and are contained within the document type declaration. See. See also document type declaration, external subset.

An organization founded in 1947 to create open technical specifications. See also open standard, recommendation, standards body.
