Summary

In this chapter we provided a high-level discussion of the architecture and design of platforms that support MVPNs and routing devices which can be tasked with the support of wireless data. End-to-end support requires the MS to support VPN client functionality—which may or may not be specialized to handle mobility—while the network must support termination of mobility protocols related to VPN tunnels, AAA functions, and possibly user mobility management if the clients are mobility-aware (as in the case of Mobile IP-based VPN clients). In the next chapter we conclude the book with a look at where the wireless data industry may be heading.
