Appendix A. Catalyst 6500 Series Software Conversion

Many users are converting Catalyst 6000/6500s from hybrid to native in an attempt to standardize on one interface throughout their organization. Assuming all the software features and modules in the switch running hybrid are supported in a native configuration, a conversion from hybrid to native requires loading new software and converting the switch configuration to the native syntax. Although an automated tool exists for converting from hybrid to native, the process of converting from native to hybrid is a manual one. This appendix covers the automated tool and manual processes for conversion.
