Advanced Device Instrumentation

Cisco network elements contain a rich set of device instrumentation features, such as NetFlow, IP SLA (formerly known as Service Assurance Agent), Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR), Application Response Time (ART), Remote Monitoring (RMON), and others. The related MIBs are described in the following chapters:

  • RMON (RFC 2819 and RFC 3577), SMON (SMON-MIB), Application Performance Measurement (APM) MIB (RFC 3729)—Chapter 5, "RMON"

  • IP accounting (CISCO-IP-STAT-MIB)—Chapter 6, "IP Accounting"

  • NetFlow (CISCO-NETFLOW-MIB)—Chapter 7, "NetFlow"

  • BGP policy accounting (CISCO-BGP-POLICY-ACCOUNTING-MIB)—Chapter 8, "BGP Policy Accounting"

  • NBAR (CISCO-NBAR-PROTOCOL-DISCOVERY-MIB)—Chapter 10, "NBAR"

  • IP SLA (CISCO-RTTMON-MIB)—Chapter 11, "IP SLA"
