Overview

More than 1,450 Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) software packages make up the Red Hat Linux distribution referred to as the Fedora Core. This appendix contains an alphabetical listing and descriptions of those Red Hat Linux software packages.

Packages are distributed across the three CDs that come with this book. Descriptions in this appendix help you determine the contents of those packages. You typically install the bulk of those packages when you install Red Hat Linux as described in Chapter 2. Later, you can add other packages using the Red Hat Add and Remove Software window (Chapter 2) or the rpm command (Chapter 5).
