Xavier Baril studied computer science at the University of Toulouse III, France, and the University of Pau, France. He received his M.S. (DEA) from the University of Toulouse III in 1999 and is now working as a Ph.D. student in the database group of the LIRMM, Montpellier, France. His research area covers XML data warehousing, semistructured data, XML views, and XML querying.

Zohra Bellahsène is a senior lecturer, HDR, in computer science at the University of Montpellier II, France. She received her "Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches" (HDR) from the University of Montpellier II in 2000. She has devoted her recent research and publications on various aspects of view mechanisms, organizing database summer schools, and serving on the committees of French and international conferences. She has organized or chaired several workshops, invited sessions, and conferences. She was PC cochair of the international conference on Object-Oriented Information Systems (OOIS'02) and chair of the workshop on Data Integration over the Web (DIWeb'01 and DIWeb'02). She has published on the following topics: query optimization, object-oriented database views, meta-modeling, human genome databases, schema evolution, distributed database systems, view adaptation in data-warehousing systems, data warehouse design, data integration, and XML views management.
