F

F
field

An individual piece of data. In Access, you start with a table, and that table contains fields. You can include as many or as few fields as needed. A field has a unique field name, a data type, and a field size. You can also set other elements for the field.

field caption

Text that you can add to a field that will be used for the field label (rather than the field name) in a form.

field description

Text that is displayed when that field is selected. You can use a field description to aid in data entry.

field property

An option that you can set for a field to control how the field appears or works. For instance, you can set the Required property to Yes to require an entry in a particular field.

field size

The size of the field; different field types have different default sizes. You can change the size as needed.

filter

A method for displaying only a subset of records. You can filter records in a table, form, or query.

filter expression

Similar to an equation; you can create an expression for comparing and then filtering data?for instance, all products that cost more than $100 (>100).

form

A method for entering data into the data table. Rather than a large grid that displays many records, you can display and enter data one record at a time.
