Centering a Heading

In Excel, you can use another type of alignment command called Merge and Center. The Merge and Center button (its icon has a page with the letter a and two arrows) on the Formatting toolbar lets you quickly center text in the left-most cell across the entire range of cells you select. This feature is good for centering a title and subtitle at the top of a worksheet. Figure 8.7 shows a title centered across the table in cell F1.

You can undo a set of merged and centered cells by splitting the merged cells. To do so, select the merged cells and click the Merge and Center button on the Formatting toolbar.
