Summary

This hour covered the basics for building and working with macros and understanding smart tags. Now you can create your own simple macros. You must have some idea now of which macros you need to automate the repetitive tasks you perform. When you're ready, you can graduate to building complex macros with advanced macro instruction. Who knows? Maybe this hour motivated you to learn Visual Basic; if so, you'll be automating a lot more Excel tasks than you ever dreamed of.

Building and working with an Excel database is discussed in the next hour. An Excel database can store lots of information and is flexible enough to retrieve and display, with a few commands or clicks of a mouse button, only the data you want to see.
