Creating new documents

Dreamweaver provides you with several choices for selecting a new document to work in. You can create a new document in the following ways:

• Start with a blank document (see Creating a new blank document).
• Create a blank document or template based on a Dreamweaver design file (see Creating a document based on a Dreamweaver design file).
• Use a template that defines how a document looks, and sets which parts of a document can be edited (see Creating a document based on an existing template).

  TIP

  If you typically work with a specific document type, you can set a default document and automatically open a new document based on the default document you’ve defined. For information, see Setting a default new document type.
