Installing Internet Information Server
Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional users should install Internet Information Server (IIS).
If youre a Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional user, check whether IIS is already installed and running on your system. The way to do this is to look for the C:\Inetpub folder. If it doesnt exist, IIS is probably not installed on your system.
To install IIS on Windows 2000 and XP Professional:
- Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, or Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
- Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
- Select Internet Information Services (IIS) and click Next.
- Follow the installation instructions.
You can test the web server after installing it. See Testing IIS.
